4.6 From microcontroller to computer

Outcome 6 of 12 in domain 4 · Digital and microcontrollers

Raspberry Pi, Linux, when one rather than the other.

My targets

I declare:

Say for three concrete projects which wants a microcontroller and which a Raspberry Pi, and why (real time, consumption, network).
Read a sensor on the Pi over I²C or SPI from Linux, and say what the operating system takes away in determinism.
Make a microcontroller and a Pi talk over UART or USB, the Pi logging what the chip measures.
Boot the Pi from a read-only card so that a power cut corrupts nothing.
Start a service at the Pi’s boot, restart it if it falls, and log it.
Diagnosis: a Pi that reboots or freezes on a motor project, supply dip, interference or SD card; how to prove it.
