4.11 Wireless

Outcome 11 of 12 in domain 4 · Digital and microcontrollers

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, LoRa: make a project talk without wires, and what it costs in energy.

My targets

I declare:

Choose between Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy and LoRa for a given case (range, throughput, consumption, infrastructure).
Send a measurement over Wi-Fi (ESP32) to a local server, and measure what the connection costs in current.
Explain why you take a certified module rather than a bare radio chip (antenna, ISED certification in Canada).
Make two boards talk over LoRa across the farm or the neighbourhood and measure the real range.
Diagnosis: a wireless link that drops, supply collapsing on transmit, antenna, or crowded channel.
